Mikey nodded slowly, gratefully. He didn't really know if there was anything to say after that, though; the whole topic felt uncomfortable and he found himself wanting to move on.
He tried to trace the route Spencer was describing in his mind but couldn't get further than the end of corridor. The staircases had never been his forte. "Sounds good," he said with a shrug. Anything that kept them a little more off the beaten path was probably wise. "And if anyone asks we're patrolling, right?"
He looked up as he spoke with a faint smile that felt tired round the edges. With the small room dim about then and the night menacingly black at the windows, he was reminded of climbing out of the Great Hall and his hand round Spencer's as they went through the grounds. He cleared his throat and looked away, pulling out his wand just in case. "Describe the rune to me?" he asked tentatively as he peered out into the corridor. "I don't really know what kind of evidence I'm looking for."
