Mikey had been all prepared for pointing and accusations. Worry, horror, threats, even. So when Nate seemed almost happy about the wings he was more than relieved. And really the more that he thought about it, the more interesting it was. Why had the wings stayed and not the beak or the claws? Had he not visualised clearly enough or was it a fault with the spell? Was it a case of simply banishing the wings somewhere or would that rip them out of Nate's shoulders? He got the feeling there was going to have be some serious research before he even thought about trying to get rid of them.
"I don't know," he said, taking a closer look at the things so he could gauge their full span and exactly how they were attached. "Theoretically if their size and strength is suitably proportional to your body weight then well, yes, maybe."
It was a pretty startling thought for him to be having so he could only imagine how weird it must be for Nate. "Merlin, I'm so sorry," he said. "This was really not part of the plan and I'm not even sure I should try to get rid of them. They're probably rooted in your muscles and have a bone structure of their own and I could do a lot of damage by mistake if I just tried to banish them." He was going to have to go have a chat with Jon pronto. And, oh joy, admit everything to Schechter.
