"They could have been useful," William defended, although admittedly, even as exhausted as he'd been at the time, there was also a reason he'd held onto them afterward. It was difficult to get untraceable, dubiously legal, high-quality stimulant potions at the best of times, and he spent most days trapped in a castle from sunrise to midnight. At least Gabe seemed disinclined to lecture him about it.
"I think I'll let you test them all, if it's all the same to you," William added dryly. He set his saucer on the floor and leaned lightly back against the piano, incidentally pressing just a slight bit closer to Gabe in the process. "I'd prefer to know in advance if I'm consuming sabotaged potions, but I do appreciate the thought. And I may take you up on that offer." He grinned. "It's a horrible temptation, having knowledge of something so attractive in close proximity."
