William sighed, swirling his tea around in its delicate china cup and wondering whether to come clean. He probably should, it wasn't like word wouldn't get around anyway. Enough people here had known him at school to know about Hayley. Although it was hardly as if he needed Gabe to suspect him of lurking in various places doing unsavory things with still more people. He wondered if Andrew had any helpful, romantic tips on how to cease accidentally looking like the school broomstick.
"We used to date," William said shortly, having considered and discarded a half-dozen other ways of phrasing it which really didn't come to the point. "In school. We had a falling-out over the Ministry and the war, and then I didn't see her again until I was working for their research department. Filing potions instructions and corresponding with dangerous foreign men." He threw Gabe a quick, brief smile. "In case you didn't have quite the same close relationship with the Ministry of Magic, you may not know that they don't like their secrets to get out. Particularly those having to do with government-classified magical advances."
William took another sip of tea. "Hayley's concentration is in mind-magic. Her specialty is obliviation."
