Gerard hoped Spencer knew he was totally going to be taken up on that, because this was amazing. Isolated plants rattled and hissed at them as they walked by, some reaching out tendrils towards the dead squirrels in Gerard's hand, which was pretty fucking cool, even if it did keep nearly giving Gerard an aneursym trying to keep track of them all. He wondered what was up with the quieter plants -- Spencer had said this was where the most dangerous plants were confined, so they had to be deadly somehow. The fact that those silent, tranquil looking plants were being less overt about their deadliness made Gerard that much more wary.
Then they reached Audrey, who immediately snapped open her main bloom and waved tentacle-like vines around her circle.
"Hey, girl," Gerard said admiringly, and all the vines immediately went taut and then strained in his direction, sort of like a begging puppy, only ten thousand times more likely to eat him if he didn't follow through. Gerard tossed one of the squirrels into the circle and marveled at the dexterity and speed of the plant as she snatched her meal out of the air.
"Look at her!" he said, tossing the next squirrel and beaming as it was immediately snagged and devoured. "Brilliant! She'd have been dead useful against the house elves."
