"Library," William said, making an apologetic face and not worrying too much that it probably looked as patently false as it felt. Hayley knew he wasn't sincere, regardless.
He smoothed out his robe and stepped clear of the cupboard. "I'm sure I'll see you around," he said, without quite as much edge as he could have put into it, considering that he was now out of time and still woefully sans tea. He hesitated, glancing at Spencer. "Could we...keep this between us?" he asked, biting his lip and looking back to Hayley as pitifully as possible. "Staff fraternisation isn't precisely encouraged here. You understand."
He paused for a half-second, then leaned in to peck Spencer once more on the lips. "I'll see you after classes," he said, flashing a quick smile. "Have a good afternoon."
