"Oh, because that's dignified," William responded with a moderate amount of sarcasm. The best solution, he had concluded, was to casually avoid Hayley without it ever looking like he was doing so. They'd played this game before. She lurked, he evaded, eventually she cornered him and he tried to get away with giving her as little as possible without ever being blatantly uncooperative. It was almost like a choreographed dance by this point.
"Diversion?" he suggested hopefully. "You don't have Brimstone Firecrackers hidden in your robe, do you? A Superspeed Tumbleweed?"
He cast the periscope charm again to sneak another peek, but Hayley wasn't where he'd expected her to be. That entire section of the corridor was empty, in fact, which had him nearly breathing a sigh of relief before he heard the click of heels outside the cupboard and caught a flash of flaming red hair, far, far too close.
"Shit!" he hissed, snapping the cupboard door closed. "Nox!"
They were only in darkness for a split-second before the door began to crack open again. William thought fast, did the first thing that came to mind and grabbed Spencer with both hands, pulling him into a deep, hopefully passionate-looking kiss.
