Well, this was awkward. Also, really, really obvious. All of Nate's prior suspicions had been confirmed by the way Spencer had zoomed away from Mikey the minute he noticed Nate. The forced cover story had just been the icing on top of the delicious cake of I-know-something-true. Possibly the cake was surrounded by the muffins and biscuits of rumor and gossip, but Nate wasn't sure if that would be stretching the metaphor a bit much.
He wondered if there was just something in the water at Hogwarts that had made all of the professors lose whatever claim to subtlety they had. They hadn't been this obvious as students, had they?
All of which, of course, could be pondered later. The important thing to consider at the moment was how long it would take for Madam Rosmerta to grab the keg of butterbeer and the bottles of firewhiskey so he could get out of there. Knowing things was great; other people knowing that you knew things was... less so.
