William looked like a terrified deer, staring up at him with wide alarmed eyes, and Gerard abruptly felt like a giant asshole bully. He dropped William's wrist hastily, wincing as the baton wavered and emited a brief shriek.
"Didn't mean to sneak up on you," he said, grimacing apologetically. "I've just got" -- he gestured vaguely around his head -- "um, sensitive ears, and that noise is basically the auditory equivalent of Cruciatus, honestly."
Gerard eyed the drink in William's hand covetously and somewhat disapprovingly -- he could really use a drink, but electric blue really didn't go with the whole Combes ensemble. Nor Gerard's Dashing Mysterious Ambiance, come to think of it. But electric blue, that was ringing a bell somehow, a bell for some reason linked it with that terrible wailing noise...
"That is totally not a regulation thingagummy!" he said to Pete triumphantly, snapping his fingers. "It's the police cars that make that noise, during the high speed chases and things, and they flash these crazy blue Lumos charms!" He smugly cast a Silencio on the counterfeit police wands. "And, I mean, it's not like you can bring a bloody car in here, right?" He paused. Actually, having a tiny police car zooming about the place would be pretty brilliant, so long as the noise level was drastically reduced. "...unless Mikey transfigured one. Hmm." Maybe from a suit of armour? That might get Schechter upset, though.
