"Huh," Spencer said, and swished the crop around a little, watching it with a detached sort of interest before he started to smile. It made a brilliant swishing sound if he moved it fast enough, and Spencer flicked it through the air a couple of times to great effect, distracted for a moment while Gerard himself got ready, and finally laughed helplessly and shook his head.
"This is very cool," he said, eyeing himself sidelong in the mirror again. "Thank you, you saved me." Spencer knew the kind of haphazard, 'good enough' method he would have used on his own, and this was about a hundred times better. At least, he thought grimly, he wouldn't look hopelessly awkward, should unwanted people decide to show. (Not that they would. Spencer figured Ryan was too busy trying to kill various old schoolmates to make it to a party, even if it was masquerade.)
"A Special Agent?" Spencer repeated, tilting his head to the side and twirling his finger for Gerard to spin. It involved a little more flourishes than was strictly necessary, and Spencer laughed. "That's like -- Muggle aurors, right?" It was a very cool uniform. Spencer was a little jealous. They were stuck in robes.
He nodded, climbing to his feet properly and swishing the crop with a little more force. "Definitely ready," he said. "Shall we?"
