"Okay," Gerard whispered, peering down at his brother and trying to make out his shadowed expression. "Maja's got guard duty for now. Ready to head out? Got your socks with you? I've an extra couple pairs, if you need them."
Gerard had Accioed all of his socks from his rooms last night and distributed most of them among the students, just in case a stray elf got through the barriers. Real socks unfortunately seemed to work slightly better at repelling the elves than ones that had been duplicated with Gemino. It was sort of a wrench to lose some of his awesome pterodactyl and pumpkin-patterned ones, but it was for a good cause. Or so Gerard kept telling himself. His footwear was dying a noble death, right? And he could just use this as an excuse to buy even awesomer replacement socks later.
"Anyway, I figure we'll hit the staff room first," Gerard said, and then continued a little sheepishly, "I thought it'd be a good idea to go there first, and, uh, pick up coffee and any food that's there? I mean, before we have a bunch of students with us. Plus, there might be kids hiding there, and it's on the way... But yeah, what do you think? Staff room, bathrooms, then hit all the West Wing classrooms?"
