Spencer leaned into Mikey's touch instinctively, eyes closing for a moment before the new sound had him staring back out into the night. It was a whole lot worse, knowing they were out there and not being able to see them. Spencer swallowed hard, and turned to face Mikey fully.
"You, too," he said, and cupped Mikey's face in his hands, kissing him hard and fast. He broke away but didn't go far, trying to resist the urge to just lean in and rest his forehead against Mikey's, stay. The greenhouse was safe and comforting, and out there definitely wasn't, but those kids needed what they had come for. Spencer breathed in, trying to find the will to go back out into the night. "Let's keep it that way, huh?"
