Outside the greenhouse, Spencer drew in a shaky breath, glancing at the house elves and wishing vaguely that there was any way he could avoid what was going to happen. There wasn't, though, so he whispered the spell that disarmed the wards and cursed low under his breath as the whole greenhouse glowed green. It was only for a split second, but Spencer saw the heads of a few house elves swing around to stare blindly through the dark at them.
"Quick," he said, holding open the door and waving Mikey in. The glass was magically enforced -- too many years of stray bludgers had taught the teachers of the necessity of that -- but Spencer could see house elves shuffling closer, and began to wonder just how long they'd hang around. Maybe they hadn't gotten a good look at Mikey and Spencer. Then again, maybe they didn't need a good luck. It wasn't as though there was much competition for their attention at that moment.
