Mikey swallowed hard, that information put an uncomfortable slant on things. The owl swooped down and landed on his shoulder but he didn't want to look at the message right then. "Could she be asleep?" he tried hopefully, though even as he said it he knew it was too early for that. "Or okay, what did the message say? Did you mention there was trouble? Ask for a reply?"
The owl pecked hard at his shoulder and he twitched, annoyed, before he realised that wasn't fair and that the bird might have flown past house-elves to get to him. He took the piece of paper it offered and fished in his pockets for a treat. The note was from William, which was a cause for relief, but it was hard to feel too joyous just then. "William has suggestions for the wound," he said, glancing over it quickly. "And he says to try them sooner rather than later."
Which meant he had to go do that rather than stay with Adam and try and work something out. "Go if you need to, I'd come but -" he didn't bother finishing. Adam knew. "Shit, Adam, be safe," he said, launching forward and clutching at him in a desperate hug before drawing back. "Don't take chances, okay?" His voice sounded a little thicker than he would've liked. "And fucking come back."
