Mikey turned from the window to stare, horror-struck, at Adam. All of a sudden he realised exactly what thoughts were going through Adam's mind. He opened his mouth to reassure him immediately but then found he couldn't say 'no' if there was a possibility that Adam's wife and child were in danger. "It's not been that long," he said, stretching it out as he desperately thought the events all through in his head. "And there's a lot more for them here - I mean we're all here and we're easy attempts for dinner, right?" Right. They were within good reach and there were plenty of them.
"And they would be in a house, wouldn't they? The house elves would be in the streets." Except for how they could apparate. But if they're weren't good at apparating, and Adam had said they weren't, they were more likely to walk. "They'd probably splinch themselves if they tried to go that far," he said. "Shit, I don't know, Adam. I wish I could say no."
