Pete's brow furrowed; the problem was that he was convinced that the safest place for the kids in this situation was their own dorms. And that taking them all out en masse at this point was a terrible idea.
"Could work in your favor," he said, slowly. "How many direct entrances are there into the dorms? If we seal them all off, then...I mean. The house elves don't seem to be using higher mental functioning, really. And even if it spreads to humans, worst case scenario, and even if they remember more complex thought and don't just want flesh, only the Ravenclaws would know about these secret entrances."
Which didn't mean they shouldn't start blocking off these entrances as much as possible, but it was reassuring. "It seems to be a point A to point B sort of thing, and if they were thinking properly and in full control of their magic, they'd just apparate in and start eating, right?"
