If William was looking for a distraction, that was a pretty brilliant one. Spencer froze, then closed his eyes for a moment to keep from dropping his books or something. For a moment, bizarrely, all he could think about was the night he'd spent in front of the fire playing Wizard's Chess with Ryan, and Andrew stumbling in a little tipsy from some midnight raid to trip over Spencer's legs and then ruffle his hair in apology. It wasn't even the most important or memorable moment in their acquaintance, and it was just stupid that it was so vivid right now.
"Me either," he said finally, voice low. "I -- did you talk to him?"
