William blinked at the lion he thought he saw in Pete's room, the one Pete was pointing at, and then checked down at his feet to make sure the mongoose was still there. It looked up at him, whiskers twitching inquisitively, looking slightly confused.
"Oh," William said intelligently. He went back to staring at the lion, because...it was huge. Bigger than Pete, almost. And fussing fastidiously with its coat for a moment before looking straight back at him.
"I should warn you, I think I'm hallucinating," William told Pete with admirable calm, considering. "But is there a lion in your room?"
