William's eyes cut sideways, but he couldn't tell if that comment meant Gabe was too tired to do anything challenging right now, or that he couldn't do anything. He tried to remember the last time he'd seen Gabe do magic as he leaned over to glance at the book Gabe had open in front of him. "What do you need me to do?"
Last Thursday, he thought. Maybe Friday. No, Thursday. He'd seen Gabe cast a spell in the courtyard to pull apart two of the younger boys who'd gotten into a fight. That didn't mean he hadn't done magic since then, of course; just that William didn't remember seeing it.
