"Oh, brilliant," Pete snapped. He almost crumpled the card in his hand but set it precisely down on the table instead, neatly aligning its edges with the one next to it. "This is so educational, please, do go on. "What other keen insight have you gained in your handful of weeks here? In fact, why don't you just owl the Ministry and tell them that based on your vast experience and unparalleled wisdom, we should just restructure our entire educational system to your specifications. After all, it's not like this system has worked and produced a thriving society for hundreds of years."
He glared and, because it was better than actually swinging at Adam, leaned across the table and repossessed the cards in front of him. "You don't know shit about these kids or this school, and you can't seem to get your head out of your arse long enough to learn a damn thing. So I'm terribly sorry if our time-honored system of placing children around other children who will help them thrive is so fucking offensive, but if it's so distasteful and incomprehensible to you, I'm sure there are institutions in America who'd be happy to have you."
