"Thank you." William folded the parchment, sliding it into the pocket of his robe where it lay on the bed. He could duplicate it as soon as he got back to his rooms, and send the copies to all of the staff currently working on the virus, starting with Brendon. Maybe someone would get lucky.
He rubbed the bridge of his nose, eyes aching from exhaustion, and looked at Joe a little wanly. Joe wasn't looking all that fantastic himself. "Thank you for doing this," he said sincerely. "I'm sorry it was so...I'm sorry it caught you by surprise."
He should have known his mind would slip into the memory once it was given the suggestion, but even so, there wasn't much of a way to prepare for that. "Do you want me to leave you alone?" he asked quietly. "Or would you like me to stay for a while?" As tired as he was, he had to admit that sleep didn't seem like the most welcoming option. The prospect of a cuppa and company sounded far more appealing.
