It was a struggle to keep panic at bay as the room seemed to literally pulse and throb around them from the force of whatever the hell the thing strong across it was. It looked like a web, a spider's web of bad magic that made Joe's skin crawl and his stomach twist.
His eyed frantically moved over the complex winds and twists of the the charms that kept the thing together. It was a pattern like dominoes; if one fell, that set off a reaction that made the rest of them quickly implode until there was nothing left from devastation. If he'd had twenty years to study the fucking thing he probably couldn't have remembered every detail, but William's desperate pleading meant he had to try.
