Monday morning again; Spencer felt vaguely affronted that it kept happening. It felt like it had taken a little while longer to get here, at least, though Spencer was aware that was mostly to do with the fact that he'd stopped sleeping and the weekend had stretched on for what felt like years. At least with classes, he thought, there could be some structure to the endless days. Beginning with the staff meeting.
Spencer trailed his hand along the stone walls on his way to the staffroom, avoiding students wandering along in one direction or another. Most of them gave him funny looks, and he was aware that most of the Herbology students were under the impression that he was going crazy (which Spencer wasn't putting off the table just yet), and probably some of the kids who had been in the library that day, as well. He felt a little guilty -- his classes were undeniably suffering, because he had trouble finding the concentration to make his way around the castle, let alone teach -- so he did his best to smile at them. Mostly they smiled back.
Anyway, he'd mainlined a lot of coffee back in his quarters at the back of Greenhouse Three, and he was feeling a little better for it. Also, he'd brushed his hair, which should never be underestimated as a tool to look mildly better when the rest of you looked -- well, awful, but Spencer though it had helped a little. Also the fact that when he reached the staffroom, there were only two others there, and one was Mikey.
"Hey," he said, coming a little awkwardly into the room. He waved at Mikey, and was mildly horrified at what had possessed him to do such a ridiculously dorky thing, tucking his hand back into his pocket. He blinked at the other guy and said, "You -- must be the new Divination Professor. Right?"
