Joe taps his thumb against his broom and chews on the inside of his cheek. It takes a lot to ruffle his feathers, but he can't shake the feeling that he just got a bucket of cold, watery past dumped on his head.
"I'm working here, too?" Joe says. "I mean, I'm supposed to be. Divination. I'm the new Divination professor."
Something deep in his gut and the back of his brain wants to ask what happened after they finished school, after Patrick took off for parts unknown without so much as a word. But he doesn't.
