He raised an eyebrow. Magical fatigue was one thing. Complete lack of magical ability was another entirely. "So you can't do anything right now?" he asked. If that was true, this...thing, whatever it was, could be deadly serious. "I'm going to have to tell the headmaster," he said gently, hoping that wouldn't freak him out too much. "But as far as my questioning goes, nobody needs to know."
Despite the grave nature of the situation, Gerard felt at ease. This was what he was good at--doing his job, and doing it efficiently. Social conversation, not so much. When the topic was something related to dark magic or potentially life threatening, however, he could navigate easily.
