Adam sighed dramatically when Gerard actually asked him the question right there in the hallway. "Come on," he said, pulling the door open completely. "Just don't judge me by my pants," he added, then realized he didn't actually possess the ability to light any of the candles in his office. Fucking awesome, just awesome.
"Sorry it's so dark," he muttered, then motioned for Gerard to follow him through to his little sitting room area just off his office. "Come in here." He just didn't want to discuss whatever was wrong with him where people might potentially overhear. That was the last thing he wanted any of his students to know. Oh, Professor Lazzara, you can't do magic? Zap. Maybe he could sleep and wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and, more importantly, entirely magical.
