Spencer nodded gratefully. "They're not memories," he added. "I mean, I didn't see a huge amount of fighting during the war but they're not, they're not memories. It's something new, something else."
He tilted his head to the side, considering. "I don't really -- I mean, I don't try and wake up and then not be able to. But I never wake up until the end." And the end was always the same, although Spencer thought that that part, more than anything else, was due to bad experiences, maybe. He might not have seen him for three years, but he knew what Ryan looked like when he was terrified.
