"Righ--" Spencer began to whisper and then stopped, nodding and smiling a little foolishly. He let Jon lead him forward, taking careful steps and trying not to make any sound too loud on the bracken of the forest floor, even as he became aware of something else making sounds.
He nodded uneasily when Jon turned back to him and followed carefully, curling his own hand up around to hold onto Jon's wrist. Then something emerged, and Spencer breathed in sharply, eyes widening, caught between excitement and a vague sort of fright -- he remembered all the stories, especially those of the years above him in school.
Still. The baby hippogriff still looked a little unsteady on its own legs and Spencer couldn't help smiling, pressing up against Jon's back and peering over his shoulder. Alright, he admitted to himself, Jon's definition of "really cool" was, in fact, "really cool".
