Mikey flushes, slightly embarrassed to have been caught out. "I was uh - imagining you as a first year," he admits. "Standing in the Front Hall with your arms crossed, glaring at anyone who got too near to you. I'm sorry, it's pretty presumptuous, you probably weren't like that at all."
There was something uncomfortable about the look on Spencer's face in the second before he mentioned his age and Mikey is glad they didn't linger on the topic of the war. He's well aware that it isn't the easiest thing for some people to talk about and the last thing he wants to do is to make a new friend unhappy.
"Ah, only two years between us then. And more or less the same for everyone else too, I guess. Well I have to admit it's kind of nice, I'm not sure I could've seen the old staff gathering round a glowing pool and drinking."
