Introducing... Who: Jean Grey, featuring her future!daughter, Kitty Where: Jean and Peter's apartment When: Several weeks ago What: Jean meeting her future!daughter Rating: Low
It should come as no surprise that Jean Grey and Peter Parker had a child, or will have a child... you know what, tenses are hard, okay? The point is, that their child from the future had finally arrived. Her name? Katherine Parker. Kitty, to most people. She's sixteen, barely five foot tall and has flaming red hair just like her mother. That wasn't the only thing that she'd inherited, but one thing at a time, okay? Unlike most kids who showed up and just blabbed on the network about their parents, Kitty had a little more grace and kindness about her and, after deducing what time period it was, knew where she was likely to find them.
She made her way to Peter and Jean's apartment in Freedomtown and knocked on the door. The world was different in some ways, but she'd always been good at navigating where she needed to go. She joined her hands behind her back and rocked back and forth on her heels, using the time to think how to word what to say.
"Hold on!" Jean called out, walking towards the door. Sure, she could have read who was there from her place on the sofa, but she was trying to tone down how much she used her powers here, out of respect to the others. Walking over, the leggy redhead tied her long red hair back in a ponytail, straightening out the pink tee she wore with her form-fitting jeans. When she opened the door though... she didn't need her powers to quickly realize what was going on.
"Wow. I was kinda hoping we'd end up being part of this.... what's your name, sweetie?"
"Katherine. But you only call me that when you're mad about something." She smiled then, a smile that was very similar to Peter's after he'd said or done something cheeky. "But mostly you call me Kitty." She looked at her mother then. She was just so young! Without pause for thought she catapulted into Jean's arms and hugged her. "It's so good to see you!"
"Oh my god, this is so weird but so amazing..." Jean laughed, hugging the younger girl. Kitty... it made sense, considering how much Jean looked up to "Professor K". She looked at the girl and almost laughed: it was so obvious who she got her traits from. She had Jean's hair, fair complexion, and eyes.... but good LORD if she didn't have Peter's natural mischievous grin and facial expressions. "Please, please... come right in, honey. Stay as long as you want. I can't wait to tell Peter about this..."
"Oh, that's gonna be fun," Kitty said with a broad grin as she entered the home with a polite 'thank you'. "Ooooh. We should get a bunch of pink balloons and a banner that says 'its a girl!". She also got Peter's sense of humor, it seemed.
Something hit Jean then, that made her eyes go wide: "Oh no... you totally think of Deadpool as Uncle Wade, don't you." There was no way her man's BFF wasn't going to be in this girl's life.
Kitty made a face. "Sorrrrry. If it helps he didn't put The Exorcist on for me until I was like, five." She saw the horrified expression on Jean's face and laughed. "Okay. I'm horrible. No, that never happened. You always knew what he was up to and put the kibosh on most things."
"Ah. So... just like with your father." She laughed, shaking her head. "Wow... look at you! You are SO pretty! We did a good job here."
"You did!" Kitty promised. "I passed out of school early and everything," she said with a proud smile. "I promise, you did really well with me."
"Well... he's a goofball, but Peter's a literal genius. And I'm pretty smart too... so definitely glad to see you got that..." Poor Jean. She was so happy to see all this... but she was still reeling as well, and was obviously a little rambly and stammery.
Kitty had also inherited Jean's telepathic abilities (that and she was just naturally good at reading people) and she gave Jean's arm a comforting rub. "How about we make some tea for now," she suggested.
