He probably hovered a little too close as she made her way over to the bench to sit, but Sam couldn't help himself. Losing Jess the first time had been one of the most painful experiences of his life. He didn't intend to let anything come near her again.
He took a seat next to her and tried to think of where to even begin. "I guess... I guess I should start with the fact that there are a lot of creatures in the world that you don't know about. Demons. Vampires. Werewolves. Witches. Every kind of monster you've ever heard about and then some. They're all real."
He can feel the muscles in his shoulders growing tense and Sam reaches a hand up to rub the back of his neck. "My dad, my brother and I, we're what you'd call Hunters. We track them down and keep them from hurting innocent people. That's how I grew up. Always on the road, always moving on to the next case. That was my life up until I left for college."
