With everything running through his mind, Sam had forgotten to warn Jess about the most obvious thing. She looked the same as the last time he'd seen her. But he didn't. She was staring at a Sam Winchester who was 13 years older than the college kid she'd loved. A man now. One who had quite literally been to hell and back. Of course he looked different.
"It's me, Jess." He answered as he moved to close the distance between them. It took all of his strength not to crush her to his chest with a tight embrace. "To start with- yes. Everything you read in the pamphlet there is true. We were brought here, to this place, through a bend in reality caused by a powerful stone. But because it's so unpredictable, not everyone arrives at once. And not everyone arrives from the same point in time."
Jess had always been whip-smart. He had a feeling she'd catch what he meant by that final statement.
