For whatever she might have thought about Knowhere, for all the decided uncertainty it raised in her mind, Liara found the park to be a remarkably calming. It reminded her of being on the presidium commons, watching the hustle and bustle of the Citadel pass her by as she stared out over the lake. Not that she'd had much time for such things in recent years, or that the Citadel was likely even there anymore. Maybe that was the point of all this, of being taken to this place and away from everything she'd known. It wasn't like that life had been easy and, if it hadn't been for a certain woman, a woman who was also here with her, she didn't think she ever would have made it through. Maybe that was it, that this was their reward for how hard they'd worked, for everything they'd lost... Liara sighed softly as she settled herself down on the grass, letting the cool blades slip through her fingers. There was a lot to take in about this place. Not only was she going to have to recalibrate the bulk of her existence, but she was going to have to re-evaluate her entire way of life now too. This of course said nothing about her relationship with Jane, or the hurdles that had recently revealed themselves in that department. Liara had simply tried to trust that things would work themselves out as they always had. She tried to hold tight to the belief, the one Jane had demonstrated so many times, that everything would be all right. She took a soft pause, letting her eyes close for a moment, as she collected another soothing breath. "You'd think...after everything...this wouldn't be so hard..." She wasn't normally in the habit of talking to herself but, without Glyph, without her friends, it seemed reasonable. Besides, it wouldn't have been fair of her to have Jane shoulder all of this either. Liara knew she could have, for certain the woman had always been there to help her stand up, but time had seen fit to teach Liara the strength of herself, to teach her the importance of standing up on her own. She sighed again, folding her legs up underneath her. Maybe meditating would help. |
