Was It Something He Said?
Who: Cosmo and Eric
Where: Main loading bay, near the platforms
What: Eric looking to open a business
When: Backdated to Thursday, February 19th
Status: Log, Complete
Note: I actually kept forgetting about this scene, so I'm gonna try to rush forward with Eric's idea shortly
After messaging Cosmo on the network Eric had literally flown to meet his new canine friend. Landing, he took a sniff of his surroundings, and spotting who could only be Cosmo he walked over to him. "Hello."
Wagging his tail, tongue lolling out (Intelligence be damned, HE WAS STILL A DOG, OK?), Cosmo padded over to the vampire, panting happily and sitting down like the good boy that he is. "Greetinks, Comrade Northman. I am understandink you have somethink to discuss with Cosmo?"
"Yes, that's right," Eric replied with a warm smile. Despite Cosmo's obvious intelligence, Eric couldn't help it but think that he was adorable. ... He'd never admit that to anyone, though. "I'm interested in opening an establishment and it's my understanding that you're the one that I should talk to."
"Da!" Cosmo replied, tail wagging again. "We are tryink to have places for all of you to go, so... if there is beink a legal establishment you are wantink to set up, we will be makink sure you are funded enough to be gettink it started. You will be simply be havink to pay the loan off with your initial earninks."
"I wouldn't expect anything less," Eric rumbled in reply, bowing his head. "What I had in mind would be above board," he assured Cosmo. "I do have a personal concern, however."
Cosmo gave an inquisitive little whimper there (TOO cute), and tilted his head, looking up at the vampire. "And what would that be, comrade?"
"Hunger. I have sustained myself where necessary with synthetic blood in my home world, but am... uncertain whether that's available here. I would never take someone by force, but I hope you understand that it would be a concern." Honestly, he was used to human blood than anything, but didn't want to come across as a threat or an issue.
"We have several brilliant scientists onboard this station, comrade. While it might not be what you're used to, I'm sure they can come up with somethink that would sustain you." He thought for a moment, hesitant to say this at first, but decided to do so anyway. "Also... we have had others like yourself here. There've always been people willink to 'donate', if you know what I am sayink."
"I do, but I do not wish to jeopardize my stay here, however long that may be," Eric rumbled in reply, "so willing would all they would be." Okay, even he knew that he was laying it on strong, but he didn't know how long he would be here and didn't want to rub the locals the wrong way... at least until he knew what the pecking order was.
"Do not be takink this as mistrust or a threat, comrade... but as I said, I have had to deal with several vampires here already." Cosmo told him, turning his head toward a large metal door that was being replaced. "But I take the safety of those here very seriously. And if anyone tries to hurt Cosmo's friends..." He focused, as that large steel door began to crumble into itself, as Cosmo's eyes glowed a bright white.
Eric looked at the door, then laughed. "Perhaps we do understand each other after all. I will endeavor to find willing donors, but for the meantime, why don't you show me the vacant buildings in town?"
"Da, comrade. I will have one of our volunteers meet you outside of the buildinks you all are stayink in, to show you the spots your business could take up." Cosmo told him, far too busy to do this part himself, but understanding that the man obviously wanted to pick out a spot he liked.
"I'm thrilled," Eric rumbled in reply. Truthfully, he felt that opening a business would keep him busy, and give him a chance to get to know the locals. The last thing anyone wanted was for him to be bored. "I've been trying to think of names," he couldn't help it but smirk, "how does 'Death & Taxes' strike you?"
Something about this guy was raising red flags in Cosmo's mind, but he couldn't quite place his paw on WHAT. Hmm. Maybe less subtlety was needed here, and more raw truth. "I think I know just the person, comrade. I will have Angela meet you shortly."
Was it something I said? Eric couldn't help it but think, amused. One of the lovely things about his kind was that his mind couldn't be read, otherwise Cosmo wouldn't like him at all. "Excellent. Well, with that I bid you a good day."
"Good day, comrade." Cosmo replied, a nervous little whimper coming from him as his tail ceased wagging. He had a bad feeling about this one... he just hoped that he was wrong.
