Who: Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski Where: Mos Eisley When: A long time ago... What: Scott and Stiles go to Star Warsland Status: Complete Warnings: N/A
knew</i> Stiles would flip over. The trick would be prying him out of it to go home.
Scott woke Stiles up early...then shoved him out of bed when there was what was becoming a normal routine in the morning. Breakfast was rushed through as well. Once they were dressed, Scott was almost literally shoving Stiles out the door. “C’mon!”
*
Stiles had been perfectly fine just saying home. He really didn’t feel the need to go exploring. But he couldn’t exactly say no to it when Scott was being persistent about it. “Where are we even going?” he asked as he practically pushed out the door by Scott. There had been a lot of getting pushed this morning. “It better be good, Mr. Pushy,” he added in. Whatever Scott was up to, it was pretty obvious that he didn’t want to waste anytime. Or else Stiles wouldn’t have been pushed around all freakin’ morning.
*
“You’ll see,” was all Scott would say. The grin on his face and the spark in his eyes said he was feeling very clever and proud of himself. So much so that he grabbed Stiles’ hand once they were outside to not quite drag him along. “We have to hurry or we’ll miss the first one.” Those trains were on a schedule and he wanted to be on the next one.
Fortunately, the train was there. Scott gave Stiles a push toward it. “Find us good seats!” Then, without a warning, he left to go get them tickets. Not long he was rushing in to sit down with Stiles, slightly out of breath. “I heard this thing does light speed.”
*
“Can’t you give me a little hint here?” Stiles was pretty sure that he was going to get no hint at all no matter how much he asked for one. Scott was up to something and he wasn’t going to give up any information. That was becoming very, very clear. “I’m moving as fast as I can.”
Again with the pushing! Stiles reached out and pushed back. “Yeah, fine.” He watched Scott take off before turning and walking onto the train. He pretty much walked all the way into the back before taking a seat next to the window. He only looked away from it when Scott finally came back. “Yeah. I heard the same. It’s like a bullet train on crack.” He tried to lean over a bit to catch a glimpse of what the tickets said. “Sooo…where are we going?” Yep, he was asking again.
*
Scott held the tickets against his chest as he grinned at Stiles. There were so many ways he could answer that. Most of them would give their destination away. A galaxy far, far away. A wretched hive of scum and villainy. Once again, all Scott said was, “You’ll see.”
The conductor came through, took the tickets, punched them then handed them back to Scott along with a comment of, “Third stop. Pay attention for the announcement.” Scott gave a nod then jammed the tickets into his back pocket so Stiles wouldn’t see. He turned a smirk to Stiles. “Third stop.” He was going to get hit soon at this rate.
*
Damn, he couldn’t see what was printed on the tickets since Scott was holding them close to his chest. He seriously didn’t understand why Scott couldn’t just tell him!? He wanted to know. He didn’t want to wait and see. “Pah!”
Once again Stiles tried to see what was on those damn tickets, but again he couldn’t see anything. He was kind of hoping the conductor would say something useful, but nope. Just to pay attention and wherever they were going it was the third stop the train made. “I heard,” he said with a look. The look that said I want to smack you silly for giving me that reply. “How long have you been planning this?” Had this been something Scott had planned in advance or was this a spur of the moment thing? He had to know.
*
“Uh…” was Scott’s initial brilliant answer. “Well, remember the other night when we jokingly said we should put on some clothes and go outside once in a while?” He ignored the look from the woman across the aisle. “The next morning I started looking around on the internet and found….our destination.”
The next morning was in reality yesterday morning. Scott had gotten lucky with this world’s version of Google.
*
“Uh,” Stiles mocked back, waiting for the rest of the answer. “Yeah, I remember that. I thought we were kidding.” Unlike Scott, he didn’t ignore the look that they were getting. Instead, he just grinned at her, which made her look away pretty damn quickly. “So, you thought all of this up a few days ago. Now if you’d only tell me where we’re going.” Yeah, he wasn’t giving up. He was that impatient.
He leaned in closer, acting like he was going in for a kiss, but really he was trying to get the tickets out of Scott’s back pocket.
*
That was when the train took off which jostled Scott into Stiles coincidentally knocking Stiles’ hand away from his back pocket. “Geez!” He had kind of caught Stiles in something of a hug which made the lady across the aisle cough. Scott ignored her again as he got them both straightened out.
“Ok, not sure I like light speed,” he said as he ran a hand through his hair.
*
So close! He was so close to nabbing the tickets. And now he was just kind of leaning up against Scott in some weird looking hug. “A little warning would have been nice,” he muttered. He was about to move, but that’s when he too heard the cough. He rolled his eyes as he sat up straight again.
“It’s not so bad…” he glanced around the window and then looked away. “Okay, not looking out anymore. Everything is moving too fast. So, I’ll just do this instead.” He grabbed Scott, pulled him close and kissed him. One, because he felt like doing it. And two, he knew that lady was still watching them. Maybe this will make her pay attention to somebody else.
*
Scott looked out the window out of curiosity then regretted it. He went a little pale but then Stiles was kissing him. He didn’t care why. He just enjoyed it and kissed back. Across the aisle the woman made a choking sound this time, and a second later when the train came to an abrupt halt, she got up and left. Quickly.
Scott watched her go then broke the kiss with a chuckle. “Bet this isn’t even her stop.”
*
The choking sound only made him smile into the kiss. It didn’t make him stop. He only stopped when the train stopped and the woman decided it was time to leave. Good!
He pulled away, still grinning. “Probably not. But now we don’t have to hear her coughing up fake hairballs.” Hopefully they get anyone else like that. Or he’ll just pull the same stuff again just to make them go away. Or die in utter shock. Whichever one happened first.
*
Scott grinned back and laughed along with Stiles. Seriously. People were stuck on antiquated ways of thinking. He was having fun with Stiles, but he still definitely liked girls. He just hadn’t had a chance to meet any yet.
They repeated the same experience twice more, but it went better for kissing. Scott almost missed hearing the announcement of their stop at Mos Eisley.
*
People were just stupid. Especially if they got their undies in a twist over this kind of stuff. Honestly, it just gave them something to do while they waited for their stop.
Maybe they should have stayed home. They could have done this and so much more if they had stayed home and in bed. “Is this our stop?” he asked in between the kissing. He hadn’t heard what had been said. He just felt the train slowing, that’s what made him ask.
*
“Huh?” Scott was really, really distracted, but the announcement came once more.
Mos Eisley, next stop.
Scott grinned at Stiles. “Yeah. This is our stop.” He waited for the Star Wars geek he’d been kissing to flip out.
*
Stiles heard the announcement this time. “Did it just say what I think it just said?” he asked, looking at Scott as his eyes were starting to get wide. Screw waiting for an answer, he turned and looked out the window. Oh yeah, it was totally real. “Ahh! Let’s go, let’s go.” He was already standing up and pulling Scott up onto his feet. Now who was pushing who around?
*
Fortunately, Scott had expected this reaction so he just laughed and went with the pushing. He all but tumbled out of the train, and made sure he was in position to catch Stiles in case his best friend tripped over himself to get out. The conductor was instructing people to stand clear of the train, which probably wasn’t a problem, but Scott moved back anyway.
Then he got a look at the place. Wow. “Less sci fi and more Conan the Barbarian, isn’t it?” It looked like everything was made out of mud.
*
Stiles pushed Scott down the aisle and off the train. If anyone go thin his way, he’d probably run them over. “Go. Go. Go.” He kept repeating before hopping off the train and no longer pushing Scott anymore.
“You would know that if you would actually watch the movies!” Stiles practically shouted while walking off. He wasn’t waiting for anybody.
*
“Why would I watch the movies now?” Scott asked as he kept up with Stiles. “It’s right here live and in person.” Then he wrinkled his nose. “And smelly. Bleh.” There were weird beings and people wandering around. This was like Disney...if the characters were out of a nightmare.
“Why do you like this place again? Seems sketchy to me.” Which made him pause. “Oh man, your dad isn’t going to go ape shit on us for this, is he?”
*
Stiles rolled his eyes for probably the hundredth time today. “Because this is just a very small bit of it. You need to watch it.” And if he had is dvd collection with him, he would totally make Scott sit and finally watch it all with him.
He was totally busy looking at every little thing as they walked. “Hm?” He looked at Scott. “Oh, because this place is sketchy. Even in the movies.” He shrugged at Scott’s question. “Only if he knows we came here.” He grinned at Scott and kept on walking.
*
Scott grinned back but inside he was really hoping Stiles’ dad wouldn’t find out about this. It would be nice to have someplace they could escape to without parental supervision. At least for as long as they could get away with it, and this place made Stiles happy. Scott didn’t have something he geeked about so Star Wars it was.
He let Stiles take the lead and followed along. They turned a corner and could see people going in and out of a place with weird music coming out of it. “Hey, wasn’t there some bar with all those galactic rum runners or something?”
*
Stiles was pretty sure they could find a lot of places to go to if they would actually leave the apartment. But being here, today, was pretty cool.
He might seem calm and collected on the outside, but Stiles was totally geeking out on the inside. “OOOOH!” He grabbed Scott by the hand and started pulling him towards the place. “Cantina!” There went keeping it all bottled up inside and not looking like a fool.
*
Scott blinked as Stiles lost his shit entirely. A laugh escaped as he was dragged along. He hadn’t seen Stiles this excited about anything since they were kids. After everything they’d been through the past few years it was good to see. Stiles deserved it since he’d taken the biggest hits back home. “Only you would get excited about an intergalactic dive bar.”
Getting inside the front door of the place was easy. Scott was waiting to get carded or something, but nope. Getting through what passed for the foyer was even easier. This was as easy as….uh oh. Scott leaned to whisper to Stiles. “This isn’t the Star Wars version of a gay bar, is it?” Suggesting, perhaps, that Han Solo was gay?
*
“If you would watch the movies, you could be as excited as me.”
Once they got past the door, Stiles had stopped and looked around. It looked just like it had in the movie. He was about to step forward when Scott asked his question. He shook his head and looked at Scott like he was crazy. “No, it’s not.”
He walked towards the bar and then ordered a drink. He even got one for Scott because he figured Scott wouldn’t have a clue what to get. “Here,” he said as he grabbed the drink and handed it to Scott.
*
Scott grinned at Stiles for the look her got then followed his best friend in. Sheesh. It felt like every eye in the joint was on them. It was almost worse than the time they’d walked into a gay bar. Glancing around he just kept walking until he almost walked into Stiles’ back. He smirked as he caught himself.
He turned around to lean against the bar so he could keep an eye on the people here, then just took the drink he was handed. He almost took a sip before he looked at what was in the glass. “Stiles. This is pond scum green.”
*
Stiles looked down at his own drink and yeah, Scott was right. It looked like something that could have come out of a pond. “Maybe it tastes better than it looks.” At least that’s what he was trying to tell himself.
With a shrug he took a sip of the drink...and it was nasty. He did not swallow it. Instead he looked at Scott and let the nasty drink spill out of his mouth and back into the cup. “Okay, that was nasty,” he said as he set the drink back onto the bar.
*
Scott wasn’t even going to try it. He just set it back down on the bar as he jerked his chin toward the bartender. “Can we get something that doesn’t look like it was scraped from the mop bucket?” The bartender gave them a derisive snort before he turned to make their drinks.
While they waited, Scott turned a lopsided smile to Stiles. “Glad we’re here?” He was pretty sure he knew the answer.
*
Aw, Stiles wanted Scott to taste the nasty that was in the cup. Instead, Stiles was still left alone with the awful taste in his mouth. He wiped his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt and then snickered when he heard what Scott said to the bartender.
“Of course!” he replied, the smile returning. “Best.Day.Ever.”
*
“Good.” Scott smiled at his best friend, glad he’d done something right by him. “Then we’ll hang out here as long as you like. The trains run twenty four hours.” The bartender brought them a couple of bright pink drinks. Scott picked them up then handed one to Stiles.
“May the force be with you,” he said as he touched his glass to Stiles’ then took a drink. Then choked. “Oh my god…cough...that’s disgusting!”
*
“We should go before it gets dark,” Stiles suggested. Who knew what might go down once the sun went down.
He grabbed the second drink and looked at it. Well, at least it was nicer looking. Except this time he waited for Scott to be the taste tester. And apparently it was nasty, too. Stiles set the drink back down. Nope. He had one nasty drink already. He did not need another. “Now you can live with that awful taste in your mouth as well.”
*
Scott continued to cough for a few moments then managed a grin at Stiles. “Ok you suck.” A few final coughs. “Right. Before dark. No problem. But since we can’t seem to be able to choke down these drinks, should we just get a table and watch the crowd?” He was pretty sure he knew the answer.
*
Stiles’ smile turned into a grin. “Hey, I drank the swamp water. At least you got the pretty pink one.” He scanned the area before finding an empty table. “Come on,” he said as he grabbed Scott’s hand and pulled him through the crowd and to the table they were claiming.
*
Scott made certain their backs were to the wall. It was habit carried over from all the crap they’d gone through back in Beacon Hills, but this place seemed to demand the action. He watched for a few moments then leaned to Stiles.
“Is this all that happens in the movie? It looks like any other bar. Just...weirder.”
*
They had a pretty good view of the bar from their newly taken seats.
Stiles shook his head at Scott’s question. “See. This is exactly why you should have watched them with me every single time I told you to watch them. But nooooo…” he reached over and poked Scott in the ribs. “Stuff happens. But since we’re not in the movie…this is what we get,” he finished with a wave towards the scene happening in front of them.
*
“All right!” Scott laughed. “All right.” He smirked as he batted at Stiles poking hand. “When we get back I’ll watch the dumb movies with you.” Might as well round out Stiles’ Best Day Ever with something he’d been trying to get Scott to do for years.
*
Stiles kept with the poking because it was fun to watch Scott squirm. He did finally stop when Scott said that he would finally watch the movies. “I don’t believe you!” Only because he’s heard that before.
*
Scott smirked at Stiles before he leaned toward his best friend to put his forehead to Stiles’. “I mean it this time. This time there won’t be anything jumping out from whatever pit of hell to keep it from happening.” He looked directly into Stiles’ eyes. “So I promise. When we get back I’ll watch the movies.”
*
Should Stiles believe Scott? “Hmm…I don’t know…” He looked into Scott’s eyes, trying not to grin, but he was seriously failing. “That’s right. Nothing has tried to kill us so far, which means this is happening even if I have to tie you to my bed. No more excuses!” Now he just had to wait and see if it would actually happen.
