Kaylee pulled her head out of the box, and wiped the glitter-grease from her hands off on its surface as she heard a familiar voice. A smile grew and grew over her face until she excitedly squeezed Inara in a tight hug for several seconds before letting her go.
"Inara!" she exclaimed. Her friend looked different to her but she couldn't quite place the difference. The harsh lighting in the store brightly illuminated Kaylee's hair and caused soft little shadows to appear around her eyes. It was very unflattering lighting. "I can't believe your here- how did you get here? It was like- a wormhole or something. After the first few days of being here I thought I had really messed up. I even missed Mal and hoped even he could show up and yell at me for not figuring out how to get back." Kaylee said gesting with splayed fingertips away from herself.
"You were in the ship?! You followed me? You look so- so-." Kaylee glanced over what Inara was wearing. "So pretty! And different." she said admiring her outfit. She had a crush on Inara and Inara's wardrobe. Sometimes she couldn't figure out what was prettier! Inara did wear her wardrobe best though, Kaylee perferred the more simply magnificent clothes that were overwhelmingly frilly whereas it seemed to her Inara was more sophisticated with more subtle color palettes. Maybe Kaylee just liked to overcompensate for having to wear overalls most of the time.
Kaylee stepped back happily and rested her hand on her hips. "And different? Inara- what happened? After I disappeared? What is going on?" she asked. She felt a little worried about what was going on and she needed the reassurance of the more confident and often wiser Inara to set her straight. Kaylee was good with engines and with guys, but take her out of that and more often then not she was a damsel in distress!
