While she talked, Caboose focused on the task at hand. He nodded when it seemed appropriate, but to be completely honest, he wasn't understanding most of it. "I like tricks," he said in an effort to connect. "Just not the mean kind."
Smiling, he shrugged at her, carefully recapping the glue and putting it back into his pocket. "I don't know. I haven't had any pockets in a long time, so they're still kinda new. My armor just had a nice belt that held everything we needed." Thinking about it, he shifted in his shirt a little. Wearing regular clothing was more comfortable than wearing his armor, but he'd gotten so used to it that he felt strange without all the extra weight and protection.
Her offer was very kind and he hated to turn it down when he was just starting to make friends. "Okay," he said. "I'd tell you I'll buy, but I'm still trying to figure out the money stuff here. That's pretty new, too. Once I do, though, I'm definitely getting some new crayons." His tone was completely even without any hint of sarcasm because he didn't understand sarcasm. He was being honest with her. He even had a list of things he wanted to buy soon. On the top of his list were crayons, sneakers, orange juice, sandwiches, and a vehicle to fix up.
He reached a hand down to help her up, not wanting her to fall again. High heels still seemed kind of dangerous, what with how mean her shoes were a few minutes ago. Better safe than sorry. It wasn't even like she had any armor to help cushion her fall. "Are you sure you're okay?"
