Fans and Friends
Who: Rose and Dawn
Where: Shopping District
When: Sunday Evening
Not that Dawn had been sad or anything before, but she couldn't help but feel a little extra energized now that Willow was here. Yes, she was making friends here and that was always great, but the creature comforts of home could not be ignored. As far as Dawn could tell, the best comforts of home were other people. She STILL wished that Xander would eventually show up so that she could show him all of his favorite comic book heroes come to life, because he would positively DIE, but she'd be perfectly happy to deal for now.
ANYWAY, for now, with a little extra perk in her step, she was walking about the shopping district, eventually wandering into one of the clothing stores so that she could pick up some new outfits. A girl had to be prepared for every occasion, after all.
Deciding that she REALLY needed to get some more clothes to wear here (all she had were two outfits, her Gryffindor robes, and her exercise gear which she wore now as her other clothes were being washed), the tall redhead hummed a little to herself as she looked through a few pairs of denim shorts. Hmm. She seemed to go back and forth on one pair, as she was unsure if the young version of her mother that was here would have a fit the way the older version surely would...
Still... her eyes widened when she saw who was also in the store, and couldn't help but sprint over to her. "Ok, trying not to freak out here.... you're Dawn Summers, right?"
Dawn looked up when a young girl sprinted over to her. She had seen a few people freak out over Willow, but no one had really done so over her yet, so it was admittedly a little weird. "Yeah, that's me," she said with a smile. "What's your name?"
"I'm Rose..." She said, quickly calming down so that she didn't come off as a crazy person. "Sorry for being all... weird. I'm just sort of a fan. Where I'm from, you were... well, I'm guessing you've heard about the show by now. But you were the person all of us young girls could identify with... it's just really cool to actually meet you."
She nodded. "Yeah, I've heard about the show." Dawn never thought that she would be anything resembling a celebrity, honestly. "It's a little weird to think of people identifying with me. I'm kind of a spaz, honestly."
"If it helps, you're not alone. I think most of us are... 'famous' in other people's worlds. It's really quite mind-boggling." She said, with her thick British accent. "That outfit would look fantastic on you, by the way." Rose said with a smile, nodding to the clothing Dawn had been looking at.
"Thank you," Dawn said quickly about the clothing. "And it seems like. Where are you from?" Dawn didn't immediately recognize her, but she also knew that this girl could always be from a book or just something that she personally hadn't seen before.
"I'm from..." OH GOD this felt weird to say. "From what I've been told, I'm from a series of novels that mostly focus on my uncle and my parents. I haven't read them.... it's just TOO weird to think about... but apparently I'm only briefly mentioned. Which is kind of a good thing, as at least people don't really have any preconceived opinions about me..."
It really was weird to try and reference what TV show/movie/book/whatever you were from, wasn't it? "God, I know I'd never watch the show that everyone says I'm on. WAY too rough to even think about," Dawn said with a laugh. "And you're lucky. I can only imagine what some people must think of me."
"Well, if it helps? I always thought you were awesome. You, Willow, and Faith were the girls I always wished could be my real-life friends." She admitted, blushing a little. "My classmates always thought I was daft for loving the telly... it was such a "muggle" thing to do..." She said, rolling her eyes.
Dawn blinked when Rose mentioned the word 'muggle.' Such an easy thing to miss if you weren't a massive fan of the Harry Potter books like she was. "Wow...OK, I kind of just realized what books that you're from," Dawn admitted, her mouth open a little agape.
"Oh..." Rose laughed, blushing. "Then you know what I'm talking about. The books apparently just barely mention me as a child going to Hogwarts for First Year." She grinned, as that brought back memories of not only meeting her friends for the first time, but meeting her rival/crush Scorpius Malfoy for the first time.
Dawn nodded. "I read all of them, actually," she said, realizing just who's child Rose had to be. This was insane! "It really is weird, though, realizing that people have basically gotten to watch you grow up and everything."
"I feel more bad for my mum, actually... the teenage version of her just popped in a few days ago. Bad enough she's got to deal with knowing she has a daughter here that's a year younger than her, but people will probably have a bloody TON of questions for her." She knew her mother had... a pretty massive fan-base from what she'd heard. "I have a feeling when I meet Willow, you're going to hear me shriek like a bloody mandrake..."
Dawn had to giggle a little at the idea of someone shrieking to meet Willow. She wondered how the redhead felt about THAT. "That's gotta be difficult for your mom, though. It's gotta be a little weird to meet your future daughter on top of all the other things going on."
"It's got to be FAR harder on her than me, really..." Rose said as she picked up a rather....skimpy outfit and held it up, trying to decide if it'd look good on her. "I mean, I just get mentioned, apparently. She's got seven bloody novels that pretty much tell every detail of her school life. I don't even know how I'd deal with that..."
"Yeah, having a public record of the most awkward stages of your life is about as fun as a broken leg," Dawn admitted with a chuckle. Buffy and Willow had seven seasons of a show, but at least Dawn was actually only on a couple of them, even if she remembered all of them. The Key thing was still kind of weird.
Rose caught herself grinning cutely at Dawn and shook it off. "I am SO sorry for seeming so... fangirly here. It's just... let me put it this way. Muggle television isn't exactly a very big thing in the wizarding world. I only got introduced to it to begin with because of my Grandpa. And I got SO obsessed with your show that my friends at school thought I was a total nutter."
Well, inwardly, Dawn was flailing a little bit herself, because she was meeting someone who went to freaking Hogwarts! "Well, I'm used to people thinking I'm a total nutter, too. Do they really just not watch anything at all at your school?"
"We have a magical version of the telly. Complete with our own networks, shows, etc. A lot of which admittedly revolve around either magical history or Quidditch." Rose admitted with a cute little blush. "But yes... you and Willow were more or less my fantasy friends. The witch I wanted to learn from and the fellow teen I wanted to hang out with."
Dawn smiled. "Well, apparently, here's that's actually possible." Which actually was just insanely neat, wasn't it?
"If you don't mind my saying so... the telly did you NO justice. You were cute enough on there, but in person you're an utter knockout." Rose told her, holding that little black skirt and halter top up to her before asking, "What do you think? Would this look good on me?"
"Thank you," Dawn said with a little bit of a blush. She then took a second to look over the outfit that Rose had picked out. "I think it would look great, actually," she told her.
"You know... as far as I know, nothing that happens here affects anything back in our real worlds...." Rose mused, that mischievous look that reminded anyone who knew them that this was indeed the niece of Fred and George Weasley. "Bloody hell... we don't even know if we'll REMEMBER any of this when we get home. We should make the most of our time here. Get dressed up, go meet some single guys or girls, whatever you prefer, and just go wild. I mean, there's bloody SUPERHEROES here. Imagine getting to say you made out with Batman or Kitty Pryde or something..."
"Wow...you have an absolutely fantastic point there," Dawn admitted. As far as repercussions went, there really WERE none, were there? "Then that means that you've GOT to help me find something awesome to wear!"
"Are you kidding? Body like yours? Finding you something you look sexy in will NOT be a problem." Funny enough, Rose had started out very plain and very introverted.... but when she hit her sudden growth spurt? And got sexy almost overnight? Yeah... there'd been NO looking back since then, much to her parents' dismay. "I think you and I could get into some bloody BRILLIANT situations here..."
Oh yeah, these two were going to be holy terrors together. "Then I say let's get started so that we both have something to wear by the time that we go out tonight," Dawn said to her with a grin.
