Who: Rocket, Six, AND SOME OTHER PEOPLE THAT NEEDED INTRODUCED. Where: Thanos' ship What: Rescuing Six and giving this plotline a mercy killing. Status: Closed and complete
In the essence of bringing this minor clusterfuck of a story to a not-bitter-at-all end, we're gonna skip some of the REALLY COOL PARTS. Like the fact that the backup Cosmo had spoken of? Came in the form of his Annihilators teammate Ronan The Accuser, who happily attacked Thanos' ship from the outside, just to provide a nice, annoying distraction.
We'll also skip the part where Rocket executed his plan, which was to fly the Rack N Ruin 2 past the ship's shields once Ronan had them malfunctioning... which his own personal time bomb inside with him. Yep... he'd brought Bruce Banner aboard... and, as he hopped out to go find Six, he gave Banner one little word of instruction. "Awright, pal... get yourself good and pissed... AND THEN SMASH."
So, with Ronan distracting from the outside, and a rampaging, raging Hulk destroying shit from the inside, it was nice and easy for Rocket to track down Six, and get into the room where the blonde was being held prisoner. When he slipped in... his first instinct was to quietly look to see if she was ok. Luckily for everyone involved, it didn't LOOK as though Thanos had a chance to do anything to her yet.
"Pssst. Hey. Blondie. HAD to go and getcherself captured, huh? Tyyyypical woman, always gotta do stuff ta get attention..." Heh. He was OBVIOUSLY just trying to lighten the mood. It was clear in his tone that he was worried SICK about her.
Being in the room was nothing new, Six had been in cages, so this was a step up. Only difference was, she didn't have to fight her own way out, looked like help arrived. Her eyes widened as Rocket slipped in. She looked at him, and gave a weak smile since all her energy was drained.
Thought she was tired and needed to sleep, all the energy she could muster was in the steps where she flew at him, wrapping her arms around him. She didn't speak, she didn't have any form of emotion minus the tight hold she had him in.
"Hey. Hey. It's ok, kid...." Rocket said in a hushed tone, trying to comfort her. He'd never seen her like this and while part of him enjoyed the attention... a big part of his was freaked out at seeing this powerful, usually fearless woman seeming so fragile. "We got Banner and one of Cosmo's pals distracting everyone for us... new guy that just popped in through the portal is supposed to be hookin' up with us here to get us back to Knowhere. Ugly purple krutacker didn't hurt you, did he?" Rocket asked, looking at her with worried eyes.
"I think he broke the suit and my head is throbbing," she admitted, "I'm so tired, I'm drained, kind of like when we first got here." Six step back, nodding her head, "right, where is he meeting us at?" Six was weary on her feet, she swayed a little.
"Don't worry about the suit. Me an' Stark'll build you a new, more Thanos-proof one. Trust me, he's gonna need one too. " Rocket told her, trying (because, strength be damned, she was a LOT taller than him) to steer her toward the direction of the hangar. "I had to pretty much destroy every working part of my ship to get it IN here... but if we can get back to it... this guy'll literally carry us back in it. Just try not to worry... I'll take care of ya, kid. Always will." Aww... he really was SO possessive of her...
"I know," she whispered as she walked with him, half with him pushing, it was what she needed for them to get moving. There was so much commotion in the halls, yelling, screaming, smashing, Six normally would be laughing. but all she could do was yawn.
"Remind me to never piss off the big guy," she mumbled as they pair headed to where Rocket needed them to be.
"Right?" Rocket said with an amused chuckle as he helped her slip past the panicking Badoon troops trying to fend off the Hulk. "Ronan will get The Green Giant here back once he's all done.. you know... wrecking stuff. For now, just get into the ship..." He said, opening the hatch to the Rack N Ruin 2. "I'll feel a lot better when you're safe at home. Oh, and Groot sends his love."
Another ghostly smile graced her face as Groot was mentioned, but as she climb in the ship, her body slumped in a chair, she just needed a moment to catch her breath and moved to buckle up.
"AWRIGHT, BIG BLUE! WE'RE READY!" Rocket yelled out. He didn't have a commlink with him... but he also didn't need it. Because who flew in right then and literally lifted the ship with his bare hands? Yep. MOTHERFUCKING SUPERMAN, BITCHES. He'd just popped through the portal in Knowhere the day before. You didn't know about it because the plot fell to pieces and it never got played out. BUT HE TOTALLY APPEARED.
"I got it, Rocket." He said, giving that charmingly boyish grin of his, he looked in at Six and gave her a reassuring nod. "Hang tight, ma'am. I'll have you back to Knowhere before you know it."
Six couldn't help but smile back, he was a cutie. But she yawn, her eye closed, making note she would have to thank everyone when she woke. Her hands clutched to the chair was she fell asleep waiting to get back.
Closing the door, Superman (Because remember, HE WAS TOTALLY HERE PRIOR TO THIS) shut the hatch to Rocket's ship, and lifting it rather easily, flying straight out as he gave a gesture to Ronan in passing, telling him to go ahead in and grab Banner.
While Thanos had given it a good shot... thankfully, all had ended well this time.
Six was safe...
There had been no casualties to the refugees...
And most importantly....
Dan learned the importance of putting a time limit on plots.
