Like Robin, Regina, had to blink a few times when the light first flooded the once dark room. Once her eyes had adjusted to the change she called forth a fireball in the palm of her left hand. It had taken two weeks to decorate the bedroom to her liking and the very idea of possibly setting it on fire upset her. But the safety of her family was more important than a few pieces of furniture. Furniture could be replaced. Lives could not.
When her first and second glance around the room produced no visible threat a look of pure confusion appeared on her face. Though her confusion quickly disappeared when she considered the possibility of the intruder using magic to conceal their exact location. If that was the case she would have to wonder how they’d gotten past her wards. But that could easily be determined once the thread was found and neutralized.
Regina was a half a second away from saying something to that effect when she too heard the cry. The fireball that had sat in the palm of her hand - up until now - was immediately put out. And that look of confusion once again appeared. With a quick nod of her head to Robin she slowly walked forward until she came around to the front of their bed. Instead of the intruder that Regina had hoped to find she instead found a basket with a small baby nestled inside.
After a quick flick of her wrist, the baby disappeared in a cloud of lavender smoke and then reappeared in Regina’s arms. It was perhaps not the greatest idea as it caused the baby to immediately let out a much louder cry.
