For many years Michael had tried to become as Vulcan as she could possibly be. And for a time she had succeeded. Despite Amanda’s efforts to convince her to maintain some of her humanity. But then Philippa had managed to put a crack in that wall that she had constructed. Her emotions had begun to bubble to the surface thus leading to her rash decision making. And in the last year she had learned to embrace her humanity. To embrace the emotions that she had spent so many years learning to suppress.
Michael would never be comfortable publicly displaying her emotions as she still remained a private person. But when she was among friends the need to suppress wasn’t as strong. For once she could relax and not fear being judged. Though it had taken all of her control to keep her emotions under check when they’d answered a distress call from the Enterprise. The memory of when she’d first encountered the USS Enterprise and her Captain flashing through her mind before everything suddenly changed.
When her equilibrium and vision had returned to normal, Michael, took note of her surroundings. She was no longer on board the bridge of Discovery and there was no sign of her fellow crew members or father. Instead was standing in a park with a dog in a space helmet giving her a brief explanation of what happened. An explanation that she wasn’t quite sure she believed.
The scientist in Michael had many questions that she’d like to ask but it was clear to her that the explanation that she’d been given would be it for now. She would have to discover the rest on her own. Which is why she was currently exploring her immediate surroundings and taking mental notes of everything that she saw. Well, that is, until she saw a familiar face. This was a face that once was a reminder of happier times but now was one that spelled trouble. A face that she had hoped to not run into again anytime soon. But now that she had, it made her more suspicious of her current circumstances.
As she walked closer to the woman who shared the face of her Captain, Michael said, “I see my last words to you on Qo’NoS meant nothing to you. Why have you brought me here, Philippa.”
