The Grand Tour
Who: Eric and Pam
Where: Death & Taxes
When: Just after Pam's arrival
What: Eric giving Pam the grand tour
Rating: Pam has a filthy mouth, but otherwise you're probably good
"It's not much..." Eric started to say conversationally as he gave Pam the grand tour of Death & Taxes. Still, despite his words he was proud of what he'd created. The ground floor was very much a family friendly environment, with booths, tables and an actual-to-God kitchen. But the basement level was where he was truly in his element. One would have called it a speakeasy back in the day. "But I suppose you could call it home." He realized now, in the presence of Pam, that he'd reined himself in quite a bit lately, not wanting to cause waves among the community. From the very first day of his arrival he knew that he'd be watched, that any actions that he took would be scrutinized. It seemed so foolish, now that he thought about it. Then again, he really had no idea how long he'd been in Freedomtown, so maybe it was just as well to be cautious.
"It's no Fangtasia, but, then again, what is?" Pam asked as she looked around with him, walking in her honest to god Stepford Wife ensemble that she had picked up since her arrival. She certainly did appreciate the speakeasy feel of the basement level, though. It had a charm to it. "Looks like you've been a busy boy while you've been stuck here. Which, by the way, how long HAVE you been here?" She'd seen some people talk on that message board about being here for years. Her understanding was that time worked differently here, but being stuck here for so long just seemed so boring.
He seemed to think about that for a moment before letting out a deep grumbling sound of dissatisfaction. "Too long." Close to three years, now that he thought about it. Where HAD the time gone? "You have no idea how happy I am to see you, Pam." He said it sincerely, but there was a hint of mischief in his eyes as well.
"You better be," she said, smiling at him. She had been relieved and happy to find out that he was here as well. She likely would have felt a lot more...hostile if she had found out that she was alone here. "At least you've managed to keep yourself busy while you've been stuck here. Met anyone interesting? I assume you had to find someone remotely fun to keep your interest if I wasn't here," she teased.
Eric made another rumbling noise. "This place... makes it hard to fuck with people," he admitted. "I've been on a leash". And oh the venom he said that with! "Bill was here for a while. Yes, I know how that sounds. Still, it was fun to fuck with him." He paused briefly. "I've been thinking about one of the hostesses here. I expect that I'd break her." He was actually excited at the prospect now that he was in Pam's company, funnily enough.
She made a face when he admitted that he'd been on a leash here. "Sounds like these people might need to be reminded just who they're dealing with here." She had to laugh when he mentioned Bill, but then he mentioned a hostess and that got her all curious. "Really? Do tell. I'm all ears." She definitely would have missed this if Eric wasn't here with her.
"Her name's Dawn. She's sweet. Young." Although that hadn't really stopped him before. "Innocent, certainly." He tapped his fingers on the bartop thoughtfully. "She's had dealings with vampires before, which has always interested me. No visible bite marks though." He'd never been in a position to ask. He'd always been quite fond of Dawn and now that he was forced to think about it, Eric couldn't figure out why he hadn't bothered to pursue something further. HAD this place really dulled him? Neutered him? What a terrible thought.
He did have a thing for the sweet, young ones, looking back on it. Pam only minded when said sweet, young ones made him do something stupid, but maybe he'd finally learned his lesson about that. Maybe. Probably not, but that was what she was here for. "Has she now? If she's not sporting any marks, then what have her dealings been?" she asked, She did wonder just why it had taken him so long to do anything about this girl, though.
"Apparently her sister is a vampire slayer", Eric replied with a shrug, as honestly, what a stupid title. "Who dated one or two vampires in her time." He was embarrassed to say it. It sounded like gossip. He let out a deep grumbling sound. "I have... let other people dictate my actions here for far too long."
Pam snorted at the title. "Apparently, she's a fucking awful one if she's dating vampires on the side." Eric might feel silly spreading gossip, but she was enjoying it. "Well then, isn't it time to stop that? I think it might be time to show these people just who you really are." And just how glorious that would be.
"You really do know how to bring out the best in me, Pam", he replied with a fangy grin. He almost asked if she'd like a drink, but quickly realized that the synthetic blood was another reason he was holding back (as, despite Cosima's suspicions that he was drinking from people he really hadn't been). He offered her the crook of his arm. "Let's go... and make new friends."
"Of course I do." Some people here might claim the opposite, but she didn't mind. They just didn't understand her and Eric's gloriousness. She took his arm, smiling. "Yes, I could use some new friends."
