Buffy was on edge. The last time she’d been trapped in a real-life musical, she’d nearly combusted, she’d told everyone that she’d been ripped out of heaven, Dawn had been kidnapped, and she’d kissed Spike. It had been a lot, to say the least. And as she and Faith patrolled around nowhere searching for any sign of Sweet or his henchmen, she was understandably tense. She rolled her neck and readjusted her grip on the sword she was carrying. All subtlety had gone out of her patrols these days. Pretty much all of Knowhere knew she was a slayer, so why be coy about it? Besides, she liked this sword. She and Faith had been chatting as they walked, chatting about their lives and pasts. And as she took a long look at the brunette beside her, Buffy felt a song stirring. Unable to help herself, she opened up and began to sing, music beginning to play behind her. “I've heard it said, that people come into our lives for a reason. Bringing something we must learn. And we are led to those who help us most to grow, if we let them. And we help them in return. Well, I don't know if I believe that's true. But I know I'm who I am today, because I knew you. Like a comet pulled from orbit, as it passes a sun. Like a stream that meets a boulder, halfway through the wood. Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But because I knew you, I have been changed for good." Faith's head cocked to the side, she never heard Buffy sing before and honestly, it freaked her out, a bit, specifically when the music started to play...what the hell. However, Faith didn't say anything, she listened to the blonde, validate their friendship, they have had more good days while leaving here than bad says, but it was kind of nice to know she didn't think of Faith as an outsider. Faith opened her mouth, mainly to make fun of Buffy because what a dork thing to do. Only instead of words, she began to sing as well. "It well may be, that we will never meet again. In this lifetime, so let me say before we part. So much of me" Faith hand flung out to Buffy, sweeping in the air as she spun, still singing, "Is made of what I learned from you. You'll be with me." She paused and smiled, "Like a handprint on my heart and now whatever way our stories end. I know you have re-written mine. By being my friend." Faith spun around once more, her hands in the air as she sung proudly, "Like a ship blown from its mooring, By a wind off the sea. Like a seed dropped by a skybird. In a distant wood, Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But because I knew you," Buffy was touched. She and Faith didn't talk about their feelings much. They tended to drink or punch things. Or each other. They'd been down such a long, difficult road together and they never really talked about it. Which, she was sure, was exactly why the song had taken over the both of them. It may have been the most open Faith had ever been with her, and Buffy couldn't help but feel a little emotional over it. "Because I knew you," she sang alone before Faith joined in. "I have been changed for good." Suddenly Faith turned to her, she was the darkest of the, was exposing herself to Buffy, she was confused but it felt as if something was lifting off her chest, "And just to clear the air, I ask forgiveness." Slight pause, with a smirk, "For the things I've done you blame me for." Buffy shook her head. She'd put a lot of her anger on Faith over the years, but she was hardly the innocent one in their relationship. She put her free hand on the other slayer's shoulder. "But then, I guess we know there's blame to share." Their voices joined together again as they sang, "And none of it seems to matter anymore!" Memories of all their time spent together filled her as she raised her voice to continue. "Like a comet pulled from orbit, as it passes a sun. Like a stream that meets a boulder, halfway through the wood." Singing at the same time, Faith's voice intermingled with her own, "Like a ship blown from its mooring, but a wind off the sea. Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood." Their overlapping harmonies came together again. "Who can say if I've been changed for the better? I do believe I have been changed for the better." Buffy bumped Faith's shoulder affectionately with her own, "And because I knew you..." Face chuckled to the bump, nodded her head "Because I knew you..." Faith took Buffy's hand, out of friendship, forgives, just everything she had been trying to redeem herself throughout the years, especially the year she spent with Angel in England. "I have been changed for good..." she confessed. The music faded away and left the two women holding hands in the darkness. Buffy grew self-conscious at the sheer amount of vulnerability she'd just put on display. But at the same time, she felt better too. And closer to Faith. She sighed. "We really need to figure out what's doing this." Faith was the first to move her hand out of Buffy's, than ran it through her hair, "and fast!" Faith muttered feeling so self conscious of what the hell just happened. She took in a breath, hands hooked back in her pockets, "so let’s figure out how to kill whatever this is!" Buffy adjusted her grip on her sword and nodded with determination. "Agreed." The song used in this scene is: For Good from Wicked. |
