Emme leaned forward, covered her face with her hands. Her emotions had already been in overdrive and currently she was feeling unbelievably overwhelmed. She loved Marlene McKinnon with all of her soul and had been heartbroken when she'd died. But that was something very different than being in love with her, and Emme needed some time to sort through everything to figure out how she was really feeling. Because at that moment? All she really wanted to do was cry.
She inhaled deeply to calm herself and lifted her head up. She reached over for Marlene's hand, which she then brought to her lips, brushing a kiss against the woman's knuckles. "You were so brave. And I do love you. But..." she paused and held Marlene's gaze for a moment. "I think I need some time on my own to process all of this. To sort out how I'm feeling about everything."
