Emme leaned over to rest her head against Marlene's shoulder. She'd been holding to tightly to the events in the cafeteria that now they were out, she felt a little deflated. But also lighter. She exhaled heavily.
"I have to end things with her," Emme's voice was low and even. "I can't sit around and wait for her to cheat on me. That's where this is heading and I can't watch that happen. I'm just so bloody disappointed and heartbroken. I wanted so much better for us." She continued to lay her head on Marlene's shoulder, taking some comfort in the even breathing of the other woman.
"Mar? Can I ask you something? Who did you love who didn't love you back?"
