Who: Amy with Zander
What: Lullaby
Where: Living room
When: Late Monday night
Song: "Hushabye Mountain" - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ( cover )
At two months old, Zander Steven wasn't quite at the stage where he slept through the night. He still got up atleast once a night, making sleep almost impossible for his young mother.
That night he was up once again and Amy drudged into the his room, the hall light glowing behind her. It was enough light for her to see as she picked him up. After checking his diaper, she determined that he was just hungry and went downstairs to grab him a bottle. Grabbing one from the fridge, she put it in the bottle warmer and walked around to help calm him down as they waited.
Out of no where, gentle music began to play as she sang to him. "A gentle breeze from Hushabye Mountain softly blows over Lullaby Bay. It fills the sails of boats that are waiting, waiting to sail your worries away."
Ding. The bottle was ready. Grabbing it from the warmer, she moved into the living room and sat down on Alex's chair. She would never dare sit there when he was awake but he was sleeping so she figured he wouldn't mind. It was really comfortable, which is why he claimed it for himself. Sitting down, and laid the boy in her arm and held the bottle for him.
"It isn't far to Hushabye Mountain, and your boat waits down by the quay. The winds of night so softly are sighing soon they will fly your troubles to sea. So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain. Wave goodbye to cares of the day. And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain sail far away from Lullaby Bay."
A soft instrumental played as Zander drank his bottle and slowly his eyes began to fall again. When he stopped sucking, Amy pulled the bottle away and leaned down, kissing him on his little forehead. Too comfortable to get up, she stayed where she was and finished her lullaby to him.
"So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain. Wave goodbye to cares of the day. And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain sail far away from Lullaby Bay."
As the song began to fade, so did Amy's ability to stay awake and she rested her head back, her eyes closing. Together the mother and son duo slept on Alex's chair without a care in the world. Hopefully he wouldn't mind.
