It was happening. Henry grinned over at Roland as the two boys tried to stay quiet in their hiding spot. A few days prior, in some of the excitable aftermath of Lucy’s arrival, Robin had pulled Henry aside and the two had discussed Regina. And more specifically, their future together as a family. Henry liked Robin, and he loved seeing his mother find true love. So he’d been fully supportive of the idea. And no way was he going to miss the proposal. So he’d squirrelled himself and Roland away so they were out of sight, but still had an excellent view of the sitting room. The sitting room that Robin and Regina were both currently murmuring to each other in. Music began to play, seemingly out of nowhere. And while later Henry would question the strangeness of it, at that moment, it seemed perfectly natural and he leaned in closer to watch as Robin began to sing. “What would I do without your smart mouth?” His mouth quirked upward in a grin as he reached a hand out to cup Regina’s face. “Drawing me in and you kicking me out. You’ve got my head spinning, no kidding, I can’t pin you down.” He drew Regina in close and continued his song. “What’s going on in that beautiful mind? I’m on your magical, mystery ride. And I’m so dizzy, don’t know what hit me, but I’ll be alright.” The beat swelled and shifted slightly. “I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know. She shares my dreams- I hope that someday I’ll share her home. I found a love to carry more than just my secrets. To carry love, to carry children of our own. We are still kids, but we’re so in love, fighting against all odds. I know we’ll be alright this time. Darling, just hold my hand, be my girl, I’ll be your man. I see my future in your eyes.” Again, the music shifted slightly and Robin beamed at the woman he loved. He even twirled her across the sitting room. “It’s a whole new world. A new fantastic point of view. No one to tell us no, or where to go, or say we’re only dreaming. Because all of me, loves all of you. Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections. Give your all to me, I’ll give my all to you. You’re my end and my beginning, even when I lose, I’m winning. Cause I give you all of me, and you give me all of you.” Roland had climbed into Henry’s lap and the two boys watched their parents together with matching smiles. “I wanna make you smile, whenever you’re sad, carry you around when your arthritis is bad. I’ll get your medicine when your stomach aches, build you a fire if the furnace breaks, oh, it could be so nice, growing old with you. All I wanna do is grow old with you.” The sillier lyrics gave way to more serious ones, and Robin sat Regina down on the sofa. He sat next to her and pulled her hands into his. “I never knew such a day could come, and I never knew such a love could be inside of one. And I never knew what my life was for, but now that you’re here, I know for sure. I never knew til I looked in your eyes, I was incomplete until you walked into my life. And I never knew that my heart could feel so precious and pure, one love, so real, so real.” It was at this point that Robin shifted himself down onto his knee, Regina’s hands still held tightly in his own. “Time stands still, beauty in all she is. I will be brave, I will not let anything take away what’s standing in front of me. Every breath, every hour has come to this. I think I’ve waited long enough, let enough time go by. To know just what I need in my life. When I look at you right now, You’re the only one for me. And tonight if you let me ask you this.” Robin released Regina’s hands then, if only to reach into his jacket pocket. He withdrew a ring, which he presented to her, light shining in his eyes. “With heaven as my witness, will you marry me? I want to be with you for all eternity. I swear my love for you will always be. Here, on bended knee, baby I’m asking, please. Will you marry me?” The music ended then and silence settled over the four of them. Henry and Roland held their breaths and watched Regina’s face. When Regina had first arrived in Knowhere she had been distraught and very close to reverting to her old ways. Not only was she once again separated from her son. But she was also now separated from everyone else that she had grown to care about. And then one by one the missing pieces of her life began arriving. First, it was her little prince and sometime later, Robin and her little knight. Lastly, and perhaps the most unexpected arrival, was the arrival of her future granddaughter. Regina truly hadn’t known how much she needed her little one’s presence in her life until she was there. That first day or so after Lucy had arrived was filled with the awkwardness that she and Robin had expected. Roland had reacted negatively to her presence. And while he wasn’t outright hostile, he wasn’t entirely welcoming either. That first night he had refused to leave her or Robin’s sides. Which had led to them being forced to allow him to sleep between the two of them. But little by little he had warmed up to Lucy’s presence and now accepted her as part of the family. And now with a few days having gone by that initial excitement of someone new had finally faded. But now her little prince was throwing secretive glances her way whenever they passed one another. The thought of pushing him for answers constantly crossed her mind. But pushing him for answers had never gone well in the past. Henry would come to her when he was ready. So, all she needed to do was wait. But it also hadn’t escaped her notice that Robin had pulled him aside to talk one afternoon. And it wasn’t necessarily pushing Henry for answers if she asked someone else, now was it? So, when Robin said that he had something to talk to her about she immediately met him in their sitting room. She would still be ready for whenever her little prince came to talk to her but for now she could put her mind at east. And prepare herself for whatever it was he was keeping from her. As music began to play around them and Robin began to sing, Regina, gave him her complete undivided attention. Anything she needed or had wanted to say could wait until later. No one would have been capable of breaking the bubble that seemed to surround them. And as he cupped her face she leaned into his hands and smiled. She wasn’t sure what had possessed him to sing to her. Because other than the wish that Snow and Charming had made, which had caused them all to sing, she never would have pictured any of them singing. But at this very moment in time, having her soulmate sing to her, it was just perfect. It was as if this was how everyday was meant to be spent. When the music changed and she was twirled around the room, Regina, let out a laugh. It was one of pure happiness mixed with a hint of amusement. In that moment she was young and carefree again. She was a girl completely consumed by the love that she felt for the man before her. The smile that graced her face was one that few had ever seen. And when it was obvious that the tone of his song was changing she once again gave him her undivided attention. A faint gasp left her lips and tears filled her eyes as the love of her life got down on one knee. THAT particular pose could only mean one thing. And when he presented her with the ring from his pocket she knew for sure. This was a moment that she had always dreamed of. And when his song ended with the question, will you marry me?, the tears finally began to fall. Though the tears continued to fall, her face, held the smile that she reserved solely for him. And it was when music once again broke through the silence in the room that she finally began to sing. “It’s a little bit funny, this feeling inside. I’m not one of those who can easily hide. I don’t have much money, but boy, if I did. I’d buy a big house where we both could live.” Regina reached for his hand and pulled him up to sit beside her once again. Once Robin was settled beside her she continued her song, “if I was a sculptor, but then again, no. Or a woman who makes potions in a traveling show. Oh I, I know its not much but its the best I can do. My gift is my song. And this one’s for you.” When the music slowed Henry and Roland leaned in closer. And watched as she cupped Robin’s face in her hands before continuing, “the first time I ever saw your face. I thought the sun rose in your eyes. And the moon and the stars were gifts you gave. To the dark and endless skies.” “The first time I ever kissed your mouth. I felt the earth move in my hand. Like the trembling heart of a captive bird. That was there at my command, my love. And the first time I ever lay with you.” The smile on her face grew and a little laugh escaped while Henry’s eyes closed. There were certain things he just didn’t need to know. “I felt your heart so close to mine. And I knew our joy would fill the earth. And last till the end of time, my love.” As the beat changed she paused in order to control the flow of tears that had become more frequent. And Regina was somewhat successful at that until she gazed into her love’s eyes. Because once she saw the raw emotions she felt reflected back at her the tears started once again. With a slight shake of her head she continued singing, “A beautiful face without a name for so long. A beautiful smile to hide the pain. Did you ever know that you’re my hero. And everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle. For you are the wind beneath my wings.” “Two hearts. Two hearts that beat as one.” Regina took his free hand and placed it against her heart and likewise placed one of her hands against his heart. “Our lives have just begun. Forever, I’ll hold you close in my arms. I can’t resist your charms. And love, oh love. I’ll be a fool. For you, I’m sure. You know I don’t mind. I don’t mind, ‘cause you mean the world to me. I know, I know, I’ve found. I’ve found in you. My endless love.” With the tears continuing to fall down her cheeks she pressed on as the music, once again, shifted ever so slightly. Where before it had a wistful and lighthearted feel now it was more serious. “I set out on a narrow way many years ago. Hoping I would find true love along the broken road. But I got lost a time or two. Wiped my brow and kept pushing through. I couldn’t see how every sign pointed straight to you. That every long lost dream. Lead me to where you are. Others who broke my heart. They were like northern stars. Pointing me on my way. Into your loving arms. This much I know, is true. That God bless the broken road. That lead me straight to you.” As the beat changed Roland shifted in Henry’s lap. He was beginning to grow more and more impatient. Henry had told him that they had to stay hidden and completely silent until after Regina had said the word, “yes.” He’d been told that if they had made their presence known any sooner it would ruin the moment. And so Roland had remained quiet and hidden. But now it was taking too long for her to say that one little word that meant that they could celebrate. And so he made to move again but this time he was going to go in there and tell Regina she needed to say yes. But his plan was squashed when Henry wrapped his arm tighter around his body preventing him from moving. Thus forcing him to begrudgingly remain hidden and watch their parents. “It’s always been about me, myself and I. I thought relationships were nothing but a waste of time. I never wanted to be anybody’s other half. I was happy stayin’ out of love ‘cause it wouldn’t last. That was the only way I knew. Till I met you. I know I needed you but I never showed. But I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old. Just say you won’t let go. Just say you won’t let go. I’ll wake you up with breakfast in bed. I’ll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head. And I’ll take the kids to school. Wave them goodbye. And I’ll thank my lucky stars for this night.” Removing her hand from over his heart, Regina, once again cupped her soulmates face. And whilst looking into his tear filled eyes she gave him her answer, “you make me wanna say, I do, I do, I do. So, yeah, I do, I do, I do. You know me well enough to know. That I’m not playing games. I promise I won’t turn around. And I won’t let you down. You can trust I never felt like I feel it now. Baby there’s nothing. There’s nothing we can’t get through. So let me say. Yes, I do, I do, I do.” As the music ended she took the ring from his hand and slipped it onto her ring finger. Regina took a moment to gaze at the ring on her finger before shifting her body closer to Robin’s and pulling him into a passionate kiss. Henry couldn’t stop grinning. “Okay,” he whispered to Roland. “Now we can go see them.” His soon to be little brother wasted no time leaping out of Henry’s lap and rushing toward Robin and Regina. Roland tore across the living room, laughing and yelling their names with his arms spread open wide. He clambered happily right in between them and gave Regina a kiss. Henry followed close on his heels, but stopped just short of the three of them. He stood there grinning, his hands in his pockets. “I didn’t know you guys could sing.” Note: This log includes mashups of fifteen songs.
