WHO: Cleo & Dale.
WHEN: Friday Afternoon.
WHERE: The Crashdoown.
WHAT: Catching Up.
STATUS: In Progress.

A Friday free from work. Cleo adored when she had Fridays off. She'd slept in, luxuriating in the bed for far longer than usual. Then lounged around the currently empty apartment and took her time making a breakfast of blueberry pancakes. She did some yoga, went for a run, and even did a little weight training. It wasn't really necessary for her to keep up with her training here in Knowhere, but she found a sense of peace in it. She got too jittery otherwise. And besides, she wanted to be ready if another attack happened.

By the time she'd showered and cleaned up afterward, it was lunchtime. And while Cleo wasn't entirely fond of the idea of spending her day off eating at the Cafe where she worked, she also knew a certain someone who would be there at that moment. And so, wearing a pair of jeans, Chuck Taylors, and a black t-shirt, Cleo headed over to the Crashdown.

Bells jingled as she opened the door and she waved to the hostess. "No worries, I'll seat myself," she said with a wink. With a squeak from her sneaker on the well cleaned floor, Cleo made her way over to the booth where Special Agent Dale Cooper was sitting alone.

"Friday afternoon, 1 o'clock, and Dale Cooper is in his usual booth." She slid in across from him. "You sure about this place, man? I hear the service is kind of crappy."

"Nonsense. It's only the one waitress that needs work. Cleo, I think her name is?" Dale replied with his typical upbeat, happy demeanor. "How are you, dear?" He asked, standing briefly to guide her to her seat like a gentleman, thank you very much.

Dale had grown extremely fond of Cleo since arriving aboard Knowhere. At first he thought it to merely be a friendly camaraderie, but admittedly... he HAD begun to slowly realize how attractive he found the girl to be.

"Oh yeah, I've heard about her. She's the woooorst." She winked at him and put a hand on his arm as a thank you as she sat down. She made herself comfortable and gave him a bright smile as he settled back into his seat. "Well, it's my day off and it's a gorgeous day out. So I'd say I'm doing pretty well. Plus I'm about to crash the lunch of one of my favorite people. So I'm sure it's only going to get better from here."

It all bordered somewhere in the area between friendship and flirting. Cleo liked Dale, a lot. And if she'd been single, she was sure there'd be no question about her flirting. But she also cared deeply for Tea and Bea. So she kept it (mostly) innocent.

"How's everything going with you?"

"Well, I'm sure the day is made even more beautiful having a lovely young lady like yourself in it." Dale told her with a smile, signalling for the waitress (Karolina) to bring another coffee for Cleo.

"I definitely feel a lot better now that I'm working. Local law enforcement isn't quite the same as being an FBI agent, but it's certainly a step up from being so listless. Now if I could only get the Evans family to not be so... nervous around me. I understand it, but it bothers me that my presence has that effect on such a lovely family."

"Flatterer," she teased, but she actually blushed a little at his compliment. He was always such a gentlemen. Cleo loved it. Her complexion hid the blush well enough, but if he was observant (which he usually was) he'd have noticed it.

She greet Karo with a little wave and ordered a burger to go along with her coffee.

"I'm so glad for you, Dale. Honestly. And the law enforcement here is damn lucky to have you on their team." She dumped sugar and cream into her coffee and was stirring it with a spoon when the rest of what he said registered with her. "Wait, what? Why would you make this Evans' nervous? When did this happen?" Cleo worked pretty closely with the owners of the Crashdown, but this was news to her. And she couldn't understand for the life of her why her bosses would find Dale anything less than charming.

"Apparently... the FBI where they're from were extremely aggressive with their family." Dale said, sweetly not going into any of the actual details Liz had told him. "It's not personal towards me, and I understand that."

Cleo's brow furrowed. She knew enough about their past to connect a few dots once he filled in the 'why' of it. "Well, next morning meeting, I'll make it a point to talk to Liz about what a fine, upstanding, person you are. And that any nerves on their part are unnecessary."

"They really are fine, fine people." Dale stated with a knowing smile. He found himself adoring Liz even more after she had been brave enough to tell him what was bothering them.

He thought for a moment, and gave a small shrug. "I actually may ask if they'd like any help with their Thanksgiving Day plans here. May as well put the day to some good use, right?"

"Oh, no, I wasn't disagreeing. I love their whole family. Liz in particular has been pretty great to me. It just sucks to hear they're nervous around you when I know you'd never doing anything to hurt them. "

She sighed a little at his mention of Thanksgiving. After Bea had suggesting inviting Barb to their Thanksgiving, Cleo had wanted to ask if she could invite Dale. But considering Bea's jealousy when it came to him, she'd kept the idea to herself. She didn't want it to start a fight. But still, this was good. He'd have people to celebrate with. She gave him a smile after taking a long sip of her coffee. "I'll bet they'd like that. And I'm sure they'll appreciate the extra hands too."
