Having stowed her new comm device in her purse, Tessa picked up the light blue constructed carrier she'd conjured to keep Inigo from bolting. With it firmly in hand, she bolted in the direction of the apartment buildings. The carrier bounced against her leg and her poor cat yowled in indignation, but Tessa blocked him out. He'd be all right, but she needed to get to Izzy. to see her, and to make sure she was really safe.
The weeks since Izzy had gone missing had been the worst of Tessa's life. She'd all but abandoned her job and spent all of her free time looking into the abduction. And as sure as she was that it had been an abduction, Tessa was just as sure that Izzy was still alive. She had to be. Tessa had refused to give up that hope.
When she arrived at the correct apartment, Tessa's blonde curls were a windblown mess of tangles. Her cheeks were flushed with bright pink patches, and her chest was heaving. She hadn't begun crying yet, but she felt the emotion welling in the back of her throat.
She didn't take the time to knock- just opened the door and hurried inside the room. "Iz? Izzy?" She saw her sister and the clone curled up on the couch, and that's when she couldn't hold back her tears any longer. Setting Inigo's carrier on the floor, she flung herself and the couch and wrapped her arms around Izzy in a tight hug.
