She'd told herself that she wasn't going to let three measly weeks of her life define her, and she was determined to let that be true. When she first found herself suddenly free, she was relieved, if a bit shaken up. She'd met up with someone, and found civilization, then stopped by a store for a little food, then found her apartment. Since then, though, she hadn't left the safety of the locked space. Oh, she'd felt a strange sense of safety for the first 24 hours, but after that, she'd curled up in the bathtub, fully clothed, and hadn't really moved since. She kept telling herself to pull it together, but that never actually worked.
When she found her sister's post, though, something sparked in her. Just knowing her sister was coming made her want to present her best self. She didn't want her to think she wasn't okay. Even if she wasn't entirely okay.
Dragging herself out of the tub, she washed her face, changed her clothes, then finally ventured out of the bathroom again, peeking around the corner as she opened the door. Tessa would probably need something to drink, or eat, or something. She wandered into the kitchen and found two bottles of water and a can of seasoned almonds. She set them all out of the coffee table, then created a clone and the two girls curled up on the couch to wait for their older sister.
